2008 Environment Focused Teachers Academy
The Teacher Training Academy was designed to give teachers in grades K-6, immersive hands-on field experience in two unique sessions. The K through 2 teacher session will be held August 18 and 19 and for grades 3 through 6 teachers on August 20 and 21. The sessions will take place at the Oakwood Environmental Education Charter School and in the four ecosystems of Sheldon Nature Area.
Sheldon Nature Area is located directly behind Oakwood Elementary School in Oshkosh, WI. Oakwood teachers will be conducting the sessions and will be sharing and distributing comprehensive, environment-focused curricula as you participate in classroom and field instruction exercises. Consultants who have worked with the Environmental Education Charter School will share their expertise and insights in several informational sessions.
The Dissemination Phase mission of the Oakwood Environmental Education Charter School is to provide public school educators with valuable resources for exploring charter school startup and sustenance free of charge! We want you to replicate the Oakwood model of Environmental Education within your own educational settings. Further, we are excited to be able to offer lodging (for out-of-area attendees) and meals to all participants at no cost! Enrollment in the Academy is limited. Reserve your space as soon as possible!

Oakwood Environmental Education Charter School received a Dissemination Renewal Grant in 2008 to provide opportunities for other public schools to receive developed practices and programs through hands-on experiences with Oakwood educators and consultants who have played a significant role in the growth of the EE Charter School at Oakwood.
*Participation in the Teachers Academy will automatically include you and your school in our growing list of Dissemination Partners eventually found on our website. Our goal is to build and expand a community of support for Environmental Education and more importantly to demonstrate how that positively impacts charter schools!
